The base that now houses all of U.S. Army Cyber Command is the topic of a bill written last year by North Augusta’s statehouse Rep. Bill Hixon. That legislation passed the House with zero opposition early last May, and Hixon said he’s confident the Senate will now do the same.

If it does, then South Carolina cities and counties in the vicinity of the base would be eligible to receive Military Enhancement funds that, at present, aren’t available to them.

Military Enhancement funds are set aside for those jurisdictions that house federal military installations. The law currently recognizes eight such installations.
